Lee Hornberger is a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators.

He is a former Chair of the ADR Section of the State Bar of Michigan (2017-18). 

He received First Tier ranking in Northern Michigan for Arbitration by U.S. News – Best Lawyers® Best Law Firms in 2019-20. He is in The Best Lawyers of America 2018-19 for arbitration, and 2020-__ for arbitration and mediation. He is on 2016-__ Michigan Super Lawyers lists for ADR.

He is a member of the Professional Resolution Experts of Michigan (PREMi), Editor Emeritus of The Michigan Dispute Resolution Journal (2013-2018), and former Chair of the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim Bar Association's ADR Committee (2012-18).

He has served as a Michigan Civil Rights Commission Hearing Referee; Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians Hearing Officer; on Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians Hearing Officer list; President of the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim Bar Association; and Chair of the Traverse City Human Rights Commission. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Michigan State Bar Foundation.

He has received the Distinguished Service Award in recognition of significant contributions to the field of dispute resolution, George N. Bashara, Jr. Award for exemplary service, and Hero of ADR Awards for outstanding contribution from the State Bar of Michigan's ADR Section; is on the "Northern Michigan's A-List" of Attorneys. Traverse: Northern Michigan's Magazine (January 2009); and received Conflict Resolution Services' "Pinnacle Award," the Community Mediation Services' Certificate of Appreciation; and the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
