Biographical
Alan has broad experience as a litigator for more than 26 years, handling a variety of commercial, corporate, insurance, and trust and estate disputes in state court, federal court, and arbitration. Alan began his career at large international and regional law firms before founding a litigation boutique firm that handles cases across North Carolina.
Alan is certified by the NC Dispute Resolution Commission to conduct Superior Court mediations, as well as mediations of estate and guardianship cases and other special proceedings. Alan has also served as an arbitrator in a variety of civil disputes. As a mediator and arbitrator, he offers a balanced perspective based on his years of experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Like his litigation practice, Alan serves as a neutral in cases statewide.
Alan has been listed for many years in The Best Lawyers in America (Commercial Litigation, Bet-the-Company Litigation, and Litigation-Insurance) and has been named by Best Lawyers as a “Lawyer of the Year” in the Raleigh area on three occasions. He has also been recognized on multiple occasions by North Carolina Super Lawyers magazine and Business North Carolina Magazine’s “Legal Elite,” and he has earned an A-V rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
