Biographical

Anne recently moved to Raleigh and now splits her time between Raleigh and Boone/Blowing Rock.  She is available to mediate in both areas of the state.  Anne has mediated and arbitrated cases across the State of North Carolina since 1996. In 1996, she was a panel member of the NC AOC  training film used to train arbitrators statewide for certification in court-ordered arbitrations.  She has mediated a wide variety of cases from personal injury to employment disputes, to high tech company contract disputes to medical and legal malpractice claims and construction defect cases.  She has taught and planned mediation and arbitration training seminars over several decades.  Since 2012, she has practiced law in Western North Carolina, having spent the majority of her practice years in the Triangle. She is available for mediations and other ADR services across the state.

Education

Anne Duvoisin received her bachelor’s degree cum laude from Duke University in 1973. She then went on to earn an honorary scholarship to the University of North Carolina School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctor in 1978.  Anne has been a litigator since then, trying cases in state and federal court and in civil and criminal settings.  She has arbitrated cases since 1992 and been a certified mediator in North Carolina since 1996.  Since that time, she has arbitrated and mediated cases across the state.


Memberships & Affiliations

Anne has served as chairs of the NCAJ Eminent Domain sectionand, earlier, the NCAJ nursing home litigation section.  She has served in the pastas the Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee for the Dispute Resolution Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. She was responsible, along with co-Academy neutral Jackie Clare, for creating the first North Carolina Bar Association seminar on mediation in 2000.  Sixteen years later, she was responsible for creating the first mediation continuing education seminar that was approved for credit by both the North Carolina State Bar and the Dispute Resolution Commission. As a frequent lecturer, Anne teaches other lawyers in continuing education courses and educates the public. She has recently taught courses on hydraulic fracturing (fracking), inverse condemnation, and constitutional law related to regulatory taking, nursing home abuse and neglect and piercing the corporate veil.


Rates Information

$250 administrative fee (not charged if parties handle scheduling and location selection) 250/hour for mediation services $125/hour for travel in excess of 30 miles
