Biographical

I have practiced law in Lee, Collier, and surrounding counties since 1976, with about half of my practice in civil trial work and the other half in family law for the first 25 years or so.  I served as President of the Lee County Personal Injury Association in 1998/1999 and of the Southwest Florida Trial Lawyers Association in 2007/2008.

In the last few years, I have, for the most part, limited my practice to mediation and arbitration, including "hybrid" mediation/arbitrations.  I've handled more than 3,000 mediations, primarily civil and family law. I've arbitrated numerous cases, including hybrid mediations and arbitrations.

I have given a two-hour seminar to Florida Rural Legal Services titled "Mediation as a Hostage Negotiation" and given that seminar also at a meeting of the AFLP and as a one-hour Zoom seminar sponsored by the Lee County Bar Association.   In April, 2025, I published an article on Hybrid Mediation/Arbitrations in the Collier County Bar Association magazine.

Since September 2020,  I've led a group of arbitrators meeting over Zoom, twice a month, in an informal hour discussion on various techniques and issues in arbitration and mediation/arbitration. Our participants have included local judges and arbitrators from around the state.     If you are an arbitrator, let me know and I'll invite you to join this group.
