Biographical
Jim Ryan has served as mediator in 596 civil cases to date, 501 of which settled at the mediation with a signed settlement agreement. He has litigated and served as mediator in a wide variety of civil cases, including:
Claims arising under state and federal statutes, including discrimination (all kinds), retaliation, whistle-blower, 42 USC 1983, Title VII, MHRA, FMLA, ERISA, Uniform Trade Secrets Act, Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, MPWA, RICO, Consumer Fraud Act, minority-shareholder litigation under Minnesota law, bankruptcy retaliation, excessive use of force, unlawful arrest, and many others,
and
Claims arising under common law, including breach of contract, commercial construction, partnership disputes, non-competition/confidentiality agreements, trade-secret and unfair-competition disputes, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duty, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, promissory estoppel, defamation, assault and battery, tortious interference with contract/prospective advantage, sexual assault, negligent hiring/supervision/retention, product liability, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, wrongful death, and personal injury claims of many kinds.

Rates Information
$570 per hour for prep time; $650 per hour for mediation time
