Biographical

Jeff has more than 20 years of experience litigating multiple matters on behalf of individuals and businesses throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. During his more than two decades of representing clients in state and federal courts, Jeff has tried cases before judges, juries and arbitration panels. The cases involving small and mid-sized businesses have included, among other things: Prosecuting and Defending claims for Breach of Contract, Breach of Fiduciary Duty, Corporate Dissolutions, Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices, Misappropriation of Trade Secrets, Insider Self-dealing and Fraud.

Jeff’s clients have been parties in cases before the North Carolina Business Court and various arbitrators empaneled by the America Arbitration Association among others.  A significant  portion  of  Jeff’s  practice  is  dedicated  to  construction  litigation  where  Jeff has represented   property   owners,   general   contactors   and   subcontractors   in   residential   and commercial construction disputes. Jeff has filed and prosecuted cases to enforce statutory lien claim and performance and payment bond claims on behalf of clients in North Carolina and South Carolina. Additionally, Jeff has defended subcontractors and general contractors to against claims   related   to   allegedly   defective   construction   claims   in   residential   and   commercial construction projects.

In more recent years, Jeff has repeatedly served as a North Carolina Superior Court Mediator and a South Carolina Circuit Court Mediator. Cases in which Jeff has served as a mediator in cases have related to: residential construction defects; property damage claims; breach of contract; closely-held business “divorces;” commercial construction disputes; and personal injury claims. Jeff believes in mediation as a meaningful form of dispute resolution and takes his role in that process seriously. He especially enjoys seeing parties and their lawyers craft creative, mutually-acceptable resolutions to complex problems.
