S. Kent Smith

Mr. Smith is an experienced trial attorney who has practiced in state and federal court since 1975. Earlier in his legal career, he served as a Military Judge while on active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps. His practice for the past approximately thirty five years has been concentrated in civil litigation, in which he represented plaintiffs and defendants, and he is transitioning to an exclusive full time mediation and arbitration practice.  Mr. Smith has been a Certified Superior Court Mediator since 1996, and a Certified Family Financial Mediator since 2004, and he has mediated over 1300 cases since his initial certification. Mr. Smith also is selected frequently to serve as an arbitrator for UM/UIM and construction-related claims. His vast experience of more than forty-five years as a trial counsel, judge, arbitrator and mediator provides him with a unique perspective for all sides of a lawsuit, which enables him to be particularly effective in mediations, as well as in other ADR settings.
