Biographical

Trish Holland has practiced law for 38 years, originally as an insurance defense attorney, and then with a concentration in the field of employment law.  Trish has been a North Carolina DRC Certified Mediator since 2001.  She has mediated over 400 cases, including matters involving:  employment discrimination, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, race harassment, non-compete agreements, civil rights, breach of contract and wage-hour disputes.  Trish has also mediated matters involving wrongful death, serious personal injuries, auto torts, sexual abuse, products liability, business disputes and alienation of affections.  She also has extensive experience in public personnel law, and has mediated numerous matters involving constitutional tort claims brought by employees of cities and towns.

Trish now devotes her professional career to alternative dispute resolution, serving as a mediator in legal disputes brought in state and federal courts throughout North Carolina.  She has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2007 in the field of Mediation.  She trained as a mediator at the Duke Private Adjudication Program in 2001.  In 2008, Trish completed the "Advanced Negotiation" program at the Harvard School of Law.  Trish is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section, and served as the Chair of that Section from 2016-2017.    

Over the years, Trish has been routinely honored and recognized by her peers as one of America’s best lawyers in the field of mediation and in the field of employment law. She has been routinely listed in the publication The Best Lawyers in America in the fields of Alternative Dispute Resolution and in the field of Labor and Employment Law. She was recently selected as "Lawyer of the Year" for her work in mediation in the Raleigh, North Carolina, geographic area by The Best Lawyers in America (2020 edition.)  Trish was also recently presented with the 2023 J. Robert Elster Award for Professional Excellence by the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys.  The Elster Award recognizes an attorney who exemplifies the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethics, and recognizes the member's contributions to the organized Bar as a whole and to their community.
