Paul J. Van Osselaer

Paul is an insurance coverage mediator, specializing in mediation and arbitration of insurance coverage, insurance bad faith and risk transfer disputes around the country. He regularly conducts mediations from coast to coast and has done so in over a dozen states. He has mediated coverage and indemnity disputes of all types and sizes.

Paul is a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators, currently serving as its President. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America® in both Mediation Insurance Law and in “Super Lawyers®,” in Insurance Coverage and ADR.  He is also a frequent speaker at legal and risk management seminars around the country, including the ABA, Mealey’s, DRI and RIMS, on the mediation and settlement of coverage disputes. He is author of Coverage Mediations:  Are they really that different?” (Coverage, ABA Jan-Feb 2011). Paul is a long-time coverage lawyer. He is former vice-chair of the American Bar Association’s Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee and is currently a co-chair of its ADR Subcommittee.

Prior to his mediation practice, Paul was a litigation partner at a premier Texas law firm, heading its insurance coverage practice, and then later at his own small firm. As coverage lawyers around the country discovered his mediation skills he devoted full time to it, ultimately forming his own coverage mediation boutique.

Paul is a 1975 graduate of University of Texas School Of Law, recipient of its Faculty Service Award, and Past-President of its Alumni Association.
