Biographical

Presiding Circuit Court Judge

36th Judicial Circuit, State of Alabama  1989 – 2009

Presided over 25,000 cases including 500 jury trials. Managed and coordinated the workings of all personnel and elected officials within the court system. Elected to four terms in office. Retired January 2009.

Registered Mediator/Arbitrator – Civil, Domestic, Appellate, State of Alabama   2009 - Present

Mediation practice in 12 counties involving partnerships, corporation, construction claims, real estate disputes, estates and will contests, products liability, personal injury, worker’s compensation, original divorce actions, positions for modification, and contempt.

Over 300 cases mediated.

 The University of Alabama System - Director of Special Programs, Assistant to the Chancellor, Deputy General Counsel 2012 - 2016   

Assisted the Chancellor with the implementation of special programs and served as Deputy General Counsel.

 The University of Alabama   - Consultant  2011 – 2012

Implemented restructuring of the Tuscaloosa County Community Correction program and Drug Court. Coordinated programs between UA Judicial Affairs and municipal, county, and state systems.

Teaching a course entitled, “How to Thrive in the New Legal Marketplace: The Three Pillars of Success”

 State of Alabama - Special Assistant Attorney General 1979 – 1982

Represented the State of Alabama in the acquisition of state highway right-of-way for the redesign of hazardous bridge sites.

Extensive trial and office practice involving all aspects of civil and criminal litigation.  Represented clients in State and Federal trial and appellate court. Represented local banks, municipalities, the County Board of Education, and local industries.
