Biographical
Mr. Hollyer has his law degree from Columbia Law School, a Masters Degree from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs [formerly the Woodrow Wilson School], and his undergraduate degree from Williams College. He is admitted to the bars of New York and New Jersey. He has an "av" rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Hollyer has had a broad based career covering many aspects and perspectives of commercial litigation including: Law Secretary to a highly respected New Jersey Superior Court Chancery Judge; Assistant U.S. Attorney, NJ; associate in a mid-sized Manhattan law firm that practiced in areas of antitrust, securities and other high end commercial litigation; and, running his own commercial litigation practice in New York City through firms bearing his name for more than 35 years. Mr. Hollyer has tried cases in both State and Federal Courts and participated as an advocate in both mediations and arbitrations conducted through the AAA, JAMS, and others.
Mr. Hollyer has had extensive mediation training in programs given in conjunction with the Supreme Court, New York County, Commercial Division, the United States District Courts, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the New Jersey Superior Court, Civil, and the New York and New Jersey State Bar Associations. He has been appointed to the Roster of Mediators for the New Jersey Superior Court, Civil, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the Supreme Court, New York County, Commercial Division. Over the last ten years Mr. Hollyer has participated as the mediator in more than 200 mediations primarily on court appointed panels of the US District Court, Southern District of New York, dealing with employment disputes and 1983 police misconduct claims, and the New Jersey Superior Court, dealing with various commercial matters.
Mr. Hollyer has received arbitration training from FINRA and the New York State, New York City and New Jersey Bar Associations. He has been appointed by FINRA to its public arbitrator and Chair panels of approved arbitrators. He has been a panelist in more than 20 FINRA arbitrations sometimes as Chair, some of whiich have resulted in awards, the balance having settled prior to award. Topics involved disputes between brokerage firms, employmnt disputes, customer disputes and expurgation proeedings.
Mr. Hollyer is a member of the Dispute Resolution Section of the New York State Bar Association and is a former Secretary of that Section and former Co-Chair of its Ethics Committee. He has served two 3-year terms on the Mediation Advisory Committee to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York; is a former Chair and Secretary of the Dispute Resolution Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association; and, has served two 3-year terms as a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.

Memberships & Affiliations
In addition to the above, earlier in his career Mr. Hollyer has spent a substantial amount of his professional time serving on numerous bar association committees relating to attorney and judicial ethics. He has served as a mediator and later as Chair of the Complaint Mediation Panel for the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department. He has also served as the Chair for the Special Committee on Procedures for Judicial Discipline for the New York State Bar Association.
