Biographical

Rob Harris spent over two decades as a commercial litigator, followed by senior in-house counsel positions at financial services companies. This combination has enriched his understanding of the broader context of business and employment disputes, enhancing his effectiveness as both an arbitrator and mediator.

Rob serves as an arbitrator and mediator both through private engagement and as a longstanding American Arbitration Association neutral. In addition to its general Commercial, Employment, Construction and Consumer panels, he participates on AAA's specialty panels for Large Complex Cases, and Mergers and Acquisitions and Joint Ventures.

He has particular experience and strength in the efficient management of complicated contractual and employment disputes arising in the investment management arenas, as well as emotionally charged and sometimes contentious disputes involving the owners and principals of closely held and family-owned businesses. To better determine whether his experience aligns with parties' specific needs, he includes on his website (www.positivelyneutral.com) a composite list of recent matters where he has been asked to serve as an arbitrator or mediator.

In line with his experience, Rob is an inaugural member of the Association of Commercial and Transactional ADR Professionals (ACT-ADR), a group of dispute resolution professionals with expertise in corporate, transactional and financial matters.

Rob previously served as Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, and is a recipient of the Honorable Robert C. Zampano Award for Excellence in Mediation, named for a Connecticut federal judge known for his outstanding settlement skills.
