Biographical
Sam has been practicing law in the Charleston commumity for over 40 years. He has tried numerous cases in North and South Carolina. Beginning in 2007, he began transitioning from litigation to mediation. He now devotes 100% of his time to mediations and focus groups.
A certified mediator, Sam has an interest in other forms of alternative dispute resolution. He was a pioneer in the development of binding summary jury trials as an alternative to binding arbitrations, and lectures frequently on the topic. He has been featured in the national edition of Lawyers Weekly, explaining the summary jury trial procedure in South Carolina. He has made presentations on this innovative method of dispute resolution to the New York Trial Lawyers Association and to the California State Bar.
He also facilitates focus groups for attorneys who are seeking insight into juror opinions and attitudes in substantial dollar cases.
Clawson and Staubes has a dedicated facility with a separate private entrance to conduct mediations and focus groups.
