Biographical
Scott Baughan has been a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator since 2005. In 2017, Scott transitioned to a full-time mediation practice after a 25-year career in civil trial practice.
Over the course of his trial practice, he has handled many hundreds of litigated matters, including numerous jury trials, arbitrations and appellate proceedings as lead counsel. Scott’s experience includes representing both plaintiff and defendant in hundreds of mediations for many different types of claims, with a heavy concentration in medical malpractice cases.
Similarly, Scott has litigated numerous employment, federal civil rights, insurance disputes and complex commercial and construction cases, including specialized health care related litigation. He has also handled numerous anti-trust matters, billing disputes and practitioner credentialing issues.
Scott has successfully mediated several hundred complex cases to resolution by leveraging the insights he gained as a trial lawyer and applying them to the dispute resolution process.
