Biographical
J. Scott McLain has practiced law for over 43 years and has been a full-time mediator and arbitrator for the past 15 years. During that time, he has successfully mediated over 4,000 cases in all areas of civil litigation including wrongful death, personal injury, medical negligence, employment disputes, construction litigation, consumer disputes, premises liability, business dissolutions, partnership disputes, environmental matters and breach of contract claims. He has developed a reputation for tenacity, leading to a settlement rate of over 80%. Mr. McLain served as Vice Chair of the State Bar of Texas Committee for the Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct indicating his deep commitment to legal ethics and standards.

Education
Mr. McLain received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas Pan American, Honors Program, in 1977, Summa Cum Laude. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law in 1980, with honors, and for high attainments in the study of law was made a member of the Order of the Coif. He received his mediation training at the Harvard Law School Program of Instruction for Lawyers and his arbitration training from the American Arbitration Association. He has received advanced mediation training from the Association of Attorney Mediators, the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and the State Bar of Texas and advanced arbitration training from the American Arbitration Association. Mr. McLain has also been selected for membership in the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and the Texas Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.
