Biographical
Mr. Gealy's personal injury practice over the years has run the gamut from soft tissue injury and minor property damage claims to catastrophic injury and wrongful death suits. While the bulk of his litigation practice has involved defense work, he has also represented numerous plaintiffs over the years and recognizes the intracacies involved with such a practice. Mr. Gealy's trial experience in state and federal courts includes well over one hundred trials of cases arising from fires, alleged product defects and automobile, commercial truck, aircraft, oil field, agricultural and industrial accidents. In his later years Mr. Gealy’s litigation practice focused to a significant extent on the defense of cases arising out of accidents involving commercial motor carriers. Mr. Gealy now works almost exclusively as a mediator in an effort to help other trial lawyers and their clients find acceptable negotiated solutions which will allow their cases to be satisfactorily concluded. Mr. Gealy firmly believes that the mediation process offers parties to law suits the opportunity to be heard and taken seriously without exposure to the risks inherent in allowing their cases to be submitted to and decided by jurors. Mr. Gealy has a career of experience in the courtroom, but he clearly recognizes that the courtroom can be a daunting venue for those who are not trained as trial lawyers. The mediation process, while it requires compromise by all involved, effectively allows the parties who have the most to lose to exercise control over the manner in which their cases are resolved. The COVID-19 pandemic required most to invoke social distancing. Mr. Gealy has adapted to this need and is prepared to offer completely remote mediation services using the Zoom software platform.
