Biographical
Steve Dunn represented employers for over 20 years before becoming a full-time mediator in 2019. His practice included wage and hour, trade secrets, non-competes, and all forms of employment discrimination cases. In addition to private companies and educational institutions, Steve represented municipalities and public officials in cases involving the First Amendment, public records, and constitutional torts. Steve practiced extensively in the North Carolina business court and federal courts including the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He taught employment law at the Charlotte School of Law and has visited numerous undergraduate and law school classes as a guest lecturer.
As a mediator, Steve is in demand primarily for employment, commercial, and shareholder disputes. He also has extensive experience in construction, real estate, professional liability, and class actions.
Stylistically, Steve is persistent and engaged, tirelessly exploring opportunities for resolution before, during, and after the mediation. He takes a flexible approach, tailored to the needs of each case. A student of dispute resolution, Steve has written and presented on motivational techniques, practical strategies for lawyers, and the psychology of change.
