A Birmingham native, Bob earned his undergraduate degree at Princeton University before receiving his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1985.
After clerking for Judge Tom Gee at the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, Bob launched his litigation career at Johnston, Barton, Proctor & Powell in Birmingham in 1986. After 16 years of litigation and trial experience, Bob was appointed Circuit Judge in Jefferson County, Alabama, in 2002. He continued to serve, having been re-elected several times, until he retired from the bench in January 2023.
